Pseudocolor display of chloride cells in fish gills






 
Chloride cells from gills play a role in the maintenance of the ionic balance (homeostasis) in fishes. This film shows a series of color-coded images taken at various levels in the gill using a confocal laser scanning microscope. Research: G. Flik (Animal Organismal Physiology)
