English name: Water lily
Scientific name: Nymphaea sp.
Familia: Nymphaeaceae
Classis: Dicotyledonas
Phylum: Angiospermae
Regnum: Plantae
Leaves of the water lily float on the water. The exchange of gases is optimal thanks to the location of stomata (guard cells) at the adaxial side (upperside) of the leaf and their connection to intercellular cavities. The palisade parenchyma is multilayered and is able to capture much light.
